New Moon in Virgo

The New Moon in Virgo is arriving this year on September 6 at 8:52pm EDT

“A new moon means the moon is directly between the sun and Earth, sharing the same celestial longitude” (source).

It’s time to get things done.

New moons are traditionally a time for new beginnings and new intentions. Throughout the year, nature reminds us to clean the slate. We are interwoven in a cyclical pattern, traversing through days, weeks, months and years.

Less than a week ago, I wrote about setting September intentions. Now, here’s another opportunity to reinforce these intentions and begin again.

…But Before the Moon Arrives

Rest easy. This period is called the dark of the moon. The days leading up to the new moon are low energy days and is a time of healing and renewal (source).

New Moon Rituals…it’s time for

  1. Positive habit making

  2. Tapping into your intuition

  3. And aligning with your inner wisdom by comparing pros/cons

  4. Creativity

  5. Gratitude List

Why is This New Moon Magical?

This New Moon in Virgo is special due to a harmonious alignment of Venus in Libra and Jupiter in Aquarius. “Jupiter is the Planet of Luck and Abundance, and when it comes together with Venus, the Planet of Adoration and Aesthetics, magic happens.” In addition, “Mars in Virgo will be forming a trine with Pluto in Capricorn” leading to a time for “deep and real transformation” (source). The stars and planets say it all, open yourself up to the wisdom of the Universe, you may get lucky.

Why it’s the Time to Get Things Done

As Summer gradually begins to transition into Fall, one of my goals is to shed summer haziness and tackle priorities, goals and dreams. If I’m honest, I’m a recovering procrastinator. What I’ve realized is that procrastination causes cognitive dissonance and feelings of emptiness. Maybe you feel this way too.

Brene Brown says it well in her book, The Gifts of Imperfection:

We all have gifts and talents. when we cultivate those gifts and share them with the world, we create a sense of meaning and purpose in our lives.

Squandering our gifts brings distress to our lives. As it turns out, it’s not merely benign or “too bad” if we don’t use the gifts that we’ve been given; we pay for it with our emotional and physical well-being. When we don’t use our talent to cultivate meaningful work, we struggle. We feel disconnected and weighed down by feelings of emptiness, frustration, resentment, shame disappointment, fear and even grief” (112).

Spend quality time with yourself, value yourself, your goals and your dreams.

Throughout the year, there are potent times to clean the slate and start over again; it’s a reminder of the cyclical pattern of nature and how we are tightly interwoven into this cycle. Here’s your reminder to take this opportunity and dive into your dreams.

How can you create the most beautiful life you can imagine?
